Dear Aunt Marie will be sadly missed. She was my last living aunt and I will always cherish the wonderful memories of her presence in my life, but especially, her cheeky sense of humor and infectious laugh. My heart goes out to my cousins, Sherry, Heather and Leslie as they process this difficult loss of such a devoted mother. Sending much, much love and prayers, Cairine Swan & James Kouvarakos

When I think about Aunt Marie, I am struck by her sense of humor, her optimistic outlook on life and as so many have mentioned that infectious laugh! I have so many memories of visits to Port Hope, Ottawa, Bracebridge and to Montreal. I can remember my mother and Aunt Marie staying up till all hours in her Port Hope kitchen talking about their upbringing in Nova Scotia and about the many beloved cousins they left behind but never forgot. On a visit to Ottawa one year, I can remember sitting in a restaurant laughing and laughing about something peculiar on the menu that looked very much like bird seed. To Les, Heather, Sherry and Richard, I want to extend my deepest condolences. She loved you all very much and I know how much you will miss her. I miss her deeply, but will cherish her memory.
With love form Stephen Bird, Jill Quinlan Bird, Miranda Bird and Vanessa Bird

Marie was a breath of fresh air in life always fun to be around with lots of joy and laughter (often at the expense of her kids). I will miss her greatly but I know she is lighting up the place upstairs.

My condolences to Heather, Les, and Sherry. Marie was a very loving, caring, and all around sweet person, & neighbour. I feel so very blessed to have known her. I think I will remember her laugh the most! She always had great vigour, and a beautiful smile. I enjoyed kidding with her, just coax out a laugh! I really admired her spunk, and energy! She will be sorely missed, but I will keep a place in my heart, and prays… always!
