Norma and Family,
I am sad to hear of Ned's passing. When I see his face, I often recall the stories his mother told about him. She was so proud of each of her children. A piece of Cape Breton remained in his heart.
Take care and be well,
Margaret Coombes

Deepest condolences to Norma, Heather, Jamie, Roger and Families.
Ned was an exceptional friend with many great times had over the years. Our trips down east to the hunting camp; with some possible shenanigans, many a fine ride with our horses, to our golf tournaments and of course trips to Chandos Lake to visit.
He will be missed.
Ralph, Sherry, Shaunna and family

Not sure I can put my feelings into words. Rather shocked at this moment and will be for a while.
Ned was one of the most honourable people I have ever had the privilege to meet. Ned’s word was his bond, and he led by example. Ned’s integrity was second to none always placing family at top and the love of the lodge after family. Ned was a proud Cape Breton’er with the work ethic of a hardened coal miner. He loved to hunt and fish and we had the privilege to have him in camp a couple of times. I recall one night in camp there was a loud thump and lo and behold Ned had rolled over and fell out of the top bunk! We asked if he was okay and all he could say was, he was fine but going to lay there for a while, just to see if anything was broken; maybe just a little bit of his feeling, lol! Next year had to promise him a bottom bunk to get him to camp.
Ned’s expertise in building was second to none and he was always proud of his work; almost as much as the rest of us are. The man’s building experience and knowledge was an endless Encyclopedia that he loved to open and share, when he could slow down enough, lol.
Norma, Heather, Jamie and Roger, he always talked about with pride and love although not sure real men of his era like Ned, were brought up to be allowed express their true feelings but you knew when he spoke of them he spoke from the heart.
Miss you already Ned, but your influence will last rest of the time I’m given on this earth.

So sorry to hear of Ned's passing.
He was a special friend to us and we will miss him terribly. Always had a smile on his face and up for a joke, we learned so much from him as new cottage owners next door on Chandos Lake, always had time for you. It's hard to believe he's gone.

It is with sadness, that I heard of Ned's passing. I spoke to Ned only a few months ago, and he seemed well and happy. So, to hear this news is a shock. To Norma and family, I offer my condolence. Ned is a good guy and he is now in a better place. In my mind's eye, I can see him and my Dad enjoying each other's company, drinking rye, and arguing about nothing important. Their whole immediate family is together again and I guess that they're waiting for the rest of us.
