Obituary of Wayne Douglas Milroy
On Friday July 7, 2023 following a diagnosis of a very rare form of prostate cancer just one month ago. Wayne left this earthly world for his next adventure. Beloved husband and soul mate of Cindy Symons-Milroy and loving father of Scot (Heather), Steve and the late Jay. Ever the proud "Pop" to his four grandchildren, Nikola, Ashton, Kyla and Naomi. Son of the late Reverend James and Mabel Milroy and dear brother of Kent Milroy (the late Charlanne). Son-in-law of Betty (the late Ross) Symons and brother-in-law of Ed (Jeanette) Symons and Wayne (Wendy) Symons. Uncle and great uncle to 26 nieces and nephews.
A firm believer in life long learning, Wayne obtained his bachelors degree in 1982 while managing his business and raising a young family. In 1996, he obtained his Master of Arts in Adult Education from Central Michigan University and after teaching college for a few years, launched a successful corporate training and organizational development company assisting clients across the country with their human resources needs.
Wayne and Cindy were avid travelers, always looking forward to new escapades together and most importantly, making friends along the way. From sailing their boat from Lake Ontario to the Bahamas, backpacking through Morocco, Spain and Portugal, to driving through numerous European countries and camping, there was never an adventure Wayne wasn't up for.
The family would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff in the Palliative Care unit at Northumberland Hills Hospital, particularly Dr. Tisher, Dr. Mule and nurses Colin, Karen, Jess and Corrie.
A celebration of Wayne's life will be held Sunday August 13, 2023 from 1:30 pm at Columbus Community Centre, 232 Spencer Street East, Cobourg. Please join with family and friends to share a story, a laugh and in keeping with Wayne's memory at drink or two. Donations can be made to Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation. Arrangements in care of Allison Funeral Home, Port Hope. www.allisonfuneralhome.com
