Uncle Charles.
I have a few scattered memories of you, a distant relative in foreign lands, far from the village of Bwlch where you grew up with my mum. Those memories, whilst few and far between are all cherished, as are the relationships with our cousins that live on. My condolences to all of his children.
Paulette my condolences to you also.
Rest in peace. I popped in to see your mum last year and I'll do so again in January next.
Thomas 'Charles' Whittaker.

I am so pleased to have known Charles. We met in Port Hope through our shared passion for vintage motorbikes, despite, as it turns out, sharing friends in Toronto much earlier. Charles was a core member of our group, one of the good guys, always contributing to our club with great ideas and superb graphic design whenever called upon. The visual image of our club was a result of his talented artistic contributions.
On our many many rides it was a pleasure to get to know him and with his quiet, witty sense of humour he brought fun to every get together.
I so wish I had known Charles years earlier, I will miss him terribly, Things are not the same without him.

A rare creative genius, Charles was a kind and patient guide through my early days working in the ad business. He was quiet and calm as his brilliant ideas buzzed around in his busy brain. The last thirty-plus years of his life, which he shared with Paulette, seemed to be his happiest. Our condolences to Paulette and his daughters.

I came to know Charles when Paulette and I decided to make some papier mache items. His artistic side added considerably to our projects. Then I enjoyed his tasty omelets over lunch. Charles contributed immeasurably to the Port Hope Garden Club by designing our logo, our standing sign, and a number of posters promoting our plant sale. I was impressed by his ability to cope with his Parkinson's decline. He was always cheerful and positive. Charles was a lovely man. I'm fortunate to have known him. Carole Elliott

Charles to me expressed the good qualities of an English gentleman which is strange as he was brought up in Wales. He was quiet , modest, courteous and true to his word. Our shared interest in old motorcycles revealed to me that he could use patience and skill to make meticulous restorations.
I worked on producing a website with Charles and discovered that he was a talented graphic designer.
I will miss his subversive sense of humour, if you were feeling down, he could make you laugh and revive your spirits, this was especially useful on long motorcycle trips when the weather had turned nasty.
We shared similar tastes in books and movies. When I watch “The 3 Body Problem”, I will be thinking of you Charles. Miss you.

Charles will never be gone from our lives. He was a witty, smart, and humble man, with great integrity. He had this calm persona about him, which always put me at ease, being more of a listener than talker, always seeing the positive in things, and people. A true gentleman!
Until the next chapter.
condolences to Paulette, Madeline, and family.
